General Overview
Geographically speaking, Long Creek, Oregon, is located in Grant County; 90 miles south of Pendleton, Oregon, and approximately 40 miles north of John Day, Oregon. Nestled at the base of Long Creek Mountain, in a small valley, this community boasts a population of approximately 200 residents.
The main source of employment for individuals living in this area is farming and/or ranching. Some residents are employed by government agencies such as the Department of Transportation or the public education system while other residents have their own small businesses. There is still a small amount of logging that takes place in the area as well.
Student Demographics
Long Creek School District is home to Kindergarten thru grade12, in a single building. The total school population averages approximately 60 students.
For the most part the student body is made up of primarily Caucasian students. There is a very limited number of individuals from other ethnic groups.
School Facilities
The main building of the school houses the school’s office, student government office, superintendent/principal’s office, the library, computer lab, common’s area, resource room, speech classroom, and 9 regular classrooms.
Other school facilities include a gymnasium with an attached multi-purpose room, an welding and wood shop, a weight room and kiln area, and a dormitory which can house up to 8 foreign exchange students.
